Hometown Pride!!

I seem to have it now that I am older. I still live in the same small town I grew up in. My school has always had about 250 kids k-12 year after year. Class sizes have ranged from 12 - 20, though my sons class has been the biggest class that they have ever encountered and that being 35 kids.

This is the type of place where if you have a function to go to dressing up consists of clean blue jeans and a nice top.

During the winter months we have about 2,500 locals and in the summer time it is up to 10,000. It is amazing and unbelievable. I used to welcome these summer people when I was younger, but now that I am older I want them to go away.

They are the reasons that our property values have gone through the roof. They are the reason I don't enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt or the Fireworks or the few other things that go on throughout the year.

I get tired of the local mom and pop store that is run by locals gets put down in a negative way and the non local business is treated like royalty.

I want this little island to go back to what it was. We are going to lose this place to second homeowners who don't care. They don't have my hometown pride.

When did I become the uncool mom?

My daughter snubbed me tonight....I was shocked. When did I become the uncool mom? I don't remember my mom being as cool as me at the age of 35.

We were at a Girl Scout dance and I went to dance with her and she said "no mom" while holding her hands up in the stop position. I was a little hurt. What happened to the girl that needed me by her side at all times?

I guess I need to get used to being pushed aside in public and not take it to heart, but darnit it is hard.

She is going to be 11....when do I become the cool mom again?

The Easter Bunny isn't real, is he?

Ugh, the dreaded question I don't want to answer.

My 9 year old told me before Easter that the Easter Bunny isn't real. I asked him why he thought that and he said "cause I know"

He then told me that there isn't a Santa either and he learned that at school in a book. Oh great, what kind of books are they giving these kids?

My 10 year old only knows that the tooth fairy isn't real. She hasn't asked about all the others, yet.

I don't know what it is, but I don't want to have this conversation with them....I don't want to tell them that we lied all these years.

I don't think anyone ever told me, I think I just learned it and kept my mouth shut. That is what I want my kids to do, is that wrong?

I feel like if they know, the magic will be gone, I don't want that. I like that magic and even though I know there isn't really a Santa, I still believe....lol.

Can I be a kid and stomp my feet and just say "NO"? Please!!!!

Clothes shopping.....

I hate it, hate it!!!

When I am overweight I can't find anything to fit and when I have lost tons of weight I still can't find anything to fit. Why is that?

Did I mention that I hate clothes shopping?

What if.......

What if I was born to different parents.

What if my parents stayed together.

What if I didn't start smoking at age 12.

What if I studied harder in school.

What if I went to FIT.

I have thought alot about what if's in my life and how my life could have been soooo different. I sometimes wish that I could go back in time and change something. I am not unhappy in my life, but I do think about all the what if's.

Do you have any what if's?

Dookie....Do you know what that is???

It is what the love of my life calls a shit.

He will come home from work and say "I gotta take a dookie!!!"

"Nice" I tell him.

Do you know what I hate most about dookies besides the smell?

Is when you get your toilets looking brand new after you haven't cleaned them for a long time and you are so proud of yourself that you finally got the toilet cleaned and someone takes a dookie and it stays there and leaves dookie marks.

I HATE that!!!!!

Easter Egg Hunt

Owen is the only one left able to do the egg hunt. We got our spot and Alexis and Spencer gave him the rules of an Easter Egg Hunt. They pointed out the Silver Egg and told Owen that he needed to get that in order to get a prize. I, of course, told him to not worry about the Silver Egg, but to get lots of eggs. Who do you think he listened too? Not me!

The horn blows and he raced to a Silver Egg and got it, but than wouldn't pick up the other eggs. He would be next to an egg to pick it up and he would see another kid in the corner of his eye and he would walk away from the egg, like he was letting the other kids pick them up. I was dying.

He ended up with 7 eggs filled with candy and 1 Silver Egg. With the Silver Egg he won himself a prize. He won 2 boats and he is just thrilled.

It was a fun day and now the kids are ready for the Easter Bunny.

It's All Good!!!

I have decided to try the blogging world. I tried once before, but I lost interest rather quickly. We shall see if I can't make a go of it. I read other people's blogs and think that I could be just as creative, but than when I sit here I draw a blank.

The name of my blog is It's All Good!! and the reason being is because I tend to say that a lot! Some people say "no worries", it's all the same. I have learned to mellow in my old age, so for now It's All Good!!
